Started in 1915 in the small Indiana community of Berne (pronounced burn), as The Berne Overall & Shirt Company, we aimed to provide the Midwestern farmer with tough workwear that was high-quality, durable and priced at an exceptional value. In the 1950s, the company changed ownership and is to this day still owned by members of the same family. The company has grown immensely since those early days in Berne, Indiana and has changed names from The Berne Overall & Shirt Company and Berco until it finally settled under its current name, Berne Apparel.
Throughout the years, product lines have expanded into a full assortment of premium workwear that is now known for its durability, comfort, quality of construction and exceptional value. You can now find Berne Apparel products on each coast and every state between them.
In order to service our customers more effectively, Berne Apparel consolidated its network of distribution centers and central office into one large, centralized building in New Haven, Indiana - a city located in the shadow of Fort Wayne, Indiana - in 2004.
With great pride and dedication, we work to provide rugged workwear for the toughest of customers. It's something we've been doing since 1915, and it's this commitment to toughness that never rests. We like to call it "The Berne Way."
